Montreal´s Carey Price was all about the selfies on Saturday night, Washinton´s Eric Fehr tried his best Harlem Globetrotters impersonation and New York´s Johnny Boychuk literally tore apart the mask of an Ottawa goalie during a shot. Meanwhile, a lot of fans in Philadelphia lost their hats thanks to Brayden Schenn.

These and more were all the wackiest plays of the last seven days in the NHL and abroad.

Montreal´s Carey Price joins fan´s selfie

We´ll take you straight to New York from Saturday night when the Habs were taking on the Islanders. Canadiens goalie Carey Price likely made one fan´s night when he spotted the young Habs supporter taking a selfie. Price decided to join in the fun.

Eric Fehr learns a few tricks from the Harlem Globetrotters

The Harlem Globetrotters honoured Capitals forward Eric Fehr on Tuesday as a goodwill ambassador in the fight against bullying. Globetrotters players Sweet J and Buckets Blakes visited Fehr, whose anti-bullying children’s book “The Bulliest Dozer” was released in October, reported the Washington Post´s Scott Allen.

The Globetrotters helped teach Fehr to spin a basketball on his finger, while Buckets Blakes spun a basketball on the end of a skate blade.

Ouch! Islanders´Johnny Boychuk breaks mask of Senators goalie after slapshot

Alright, let´s face it: Johnny Boychuk has an absolute cannon of a slapshot. Ottawa Senators goalie Andrew Hammond found this out the hard way Friday night. Islanders captain John Tavares rushed into the Senators zone, spun around 360 degrees and fed a short pass to an oncoming Boychuk, who stepped into an extremely hard slapper.

Hammond could only take the broken piece of plastic off after the play and show it to the ref, buying him some time to get his head together. As the Islanders broadcast said “The Hamburglar almost got french-fried.”

Hammond, who was okay, both won the game for his team and joked about the shot on Twitter the next day.

Flyers fans lost alot of hats thanks to Braydon Schenn

When Brayden Schenn scored just 11 seconds into the 3rd period Sunday afternoon, everyone at the Wells Fargo Center thought the Flyers forward had himself a hattrick.

The hats started to fly as the visiting Detroit Red Wings looked on dejected, at that point down 4-1. Philly went on to take the game 7-2.

Unfortunately, game officials credited Schenn´s apparent first goal to Wayne Simmonds after the game. Schenn lost his hattrick, while tons of fans seemingly threw their caps on the ice for nothing.

Still, the Flyers awarded Schenn with the coveted Umbrell Hat after the game, which takes the name of fallen soldier Army 1st Lt. Colby Umbrell. The hat is awarded to the player who best exhibited Flyers values after each game.

Grapes goes full St. Patty´s Day

The NHL´s resident fashionista Don Cherry once again revealed his excellent (or horrible, for some) sense of fashion on Coach´s Corner Saturday night, by honouring St. Patrick´s Day. Need we say more?

Carolina´s Alexander Semin can set up goals with his eyes closed

The ´Canes Alexander Semin showed the world more of his unbelievable potential for creating pretty plays Sunday night during his team´s 7-4 win over the visiting Edmonton Oilers.

After he got tripped to the ice, the highly-paid Russian forward still somehow managed to score a no-look goal from his stomach on Oilers goalie Richard Bachman.

Columbus´ Sergei Bobrovsky experienced a very unfortunate bounce

Friday night in Columbus, the visiting Edmonton Oilers got an extremely lucky bounce on goalie Sergei Bobrovsky.

After defenseman Oscar Klefbom shot the puck behind Columbus´net, Bobrovsky went to fetch the rubber. It didn´t go too well after that, as Oilers forward Derek Roy capitalized on the gift.

Florida´s Derek MacKenzie scores wild, diving goal on the Jets

During Thursday night´s 4-2 victory over the visiting Winnipeg Jets, Florida Panthers forward Derek MacKenzie scored a superman-like goal after his teammate Dave Bolland tossed a silky feed to the 33-year-old from Sudbury, Ontario.

The unorthidiox play caps off this week´s version of the Wackiest of the Week. Check out MacKenzie´s outstretched stick as he notched his fifth of the season.

Last week’s edition.
